Award-Winning Economic Development Web Site Wins State Funding

Albuquerque, NM. The Metro New Mexico Development Alliance (MNMDA) has received a $10,000 matching grant from the Cooperative Advertising Program run by the New Mexico Economic Development Department (NMEDD).

The grant will help drive traffic and build loyalty to the Alliance’s Web site, http://www.NMsitesearch.com, which was recently designated the top pick for regional agencies in the economic development category of the MuniNet Guide & Review.

The Web site is part of the Alliance’s effort to bring new businesses and jobs to the north-central corridor of New Mexico, according to Susan Johnson, director of MNMDA.

Stretching from Los Alamos and Santa Fe in the north, through Rio Rancho and Albuquerque to Valencia County on the south, the Metro New Mexico region offers an unsurpassed quality of life in a spectacular setting. "We’re a hidden gem," Johnson says. "Just look at the photos on the Web site."

NMsitesearch.com also provides extensive details on the area’s thriving technology clusters in avionics/aerospace, microelectronics, information technology, optics/photonics, and biotechnology (see http://www.nmsitesearch.com/ee/ee_1.htm).

"Building loyalty to the site includes keeping the site up-to-date, and making sure it’s rich in information," she adds. In particular, the updated site will include an expanded section on financial incentives for businesses to relocate to New Mexico (see http://www.nmsitesearch.com/incentives/incentives_1.htm).

Available incentives include industrial revenue bonds, in-plant training funds, a technology jobs tax credit, manufacturing investment and multiple other tax credits, partnerships with Sandia and Los Alamos National Laboratories, and more.

The Alliance will use the third portion of its grant to develop a brochure distributed to Web site visitors and others, explained Johnson. "It will reinforce the experience" of visiting NMsitesearch.com.

The Alliance was one of only 10 agencies that won the highest level award for proposals submitted through the state’s competitive RFP process for the Cooperative Advertising Program. NMEDD provided a total of $200,000 in matching grants to 34 local and regional economic development agencies throughout the state.
